SEO - Search Engine Optimization (Online Marketing)
What is SEO?
Search Engine Optimization is about improving website pages with keyword rich content and inbound links to drive more traffic to your website.
Why should you have SEO?
I have a few clients that say to me 'I would just like the content to be nice and simple and straight to the point.' Now that may be perfect for brochures and other forms of advertising but it is very different to the way things work on the Internet.
Search engines are what provide traffic to your website by searching through the content of your website and the more content you have with keywords and the more high quality inbound links you have to your website, the better your website will rank therefore giving you a greater opportunity to potential revenue.
How do Search Engines work?
Search engines evaluate pages according to a variety of criteria. They look for an exact phrase, pages containing the words close together, pages with the words scattered through it and HTML source code and weighs it up to which is considered 'worth' more than the other. Search engines also look at the inbound links pointing to your pages from other websites.
So the import things we must look at in our website are:
- Keyword ideas
- HTML code - Onsite optimization (behind the scenes)
- Links - Offsite optimization (from other websites)
